SP has seen many solid performances throughout the hottest months of the year, evident with the women's current fifth place standing out of 19 teams in the USATF-New England Grand Prix.
The Carver Cranberry 5 Mile Road Race took place on July 27. 13 SP runners made the journey to Carver. Six women worked hard for a seventh place finish with Katrina Gravel (30:38), Caitlyn Clark (31:40), Amanda Wright (32:20), Laura Rudd (35:43), Kasondra Iadarola (38:08), and Fawn Krumpelback (40:02). For the men,Garry Cuneo led the way with a time of 27:18 followed by Mike Grasela (28:19), Sean Griffin (28:54), Ryan Miller(29:01), Matthew Germain (29:08), Ian Wright (31:06), and John Rheaume (32:18). This was good for an 11th place finish out of 18 teams.
Kacey Hill had the honor of racing in four different states while working as an intern at the University of Louisville. In addition to the Moon Pie 10 Mile Run mentioned in the previous entry, she earned a PR of 1:38:04 at the Chicago Women's Half Marathon, raced to second place at Johnny's Memorial 5K Run across the Ohio River in Jeffersonville, Indiana (20:28), and then ran 26:40 at the Grand Slam 4 Miler in Louisville where she finished second.
Meanwhile, Maartje Bastings has been busy competing on the local triathlon circuit taking first place in her age group at Irongirl Webster July 21 and a second place age group award at the Boston Triathlon on August 4. Garry Cuneo took on a challenge of his own in Rockport by finishing as the second male at the Triple Threat Half Marathon Challenge in which competitors race a mile followed by a 5K and a half marathon in consecutive efforts.
